Normalize Traveling with Children

NORMALIZE traveling with your children…they deserve to see new things too.

I recently came across a quote on social media that really struck a chord with me. It reminded me of something: when Hubs and I envisioned starting a family, we always dreamed of sharing experiences with our kids. We wanted to introduce them to all the places we’ve explored and enjoyed, and to embark on new adventures together.

As avid travelers, this desire was especially important to us. Growing up, my parents took me and my sisters on various trips. While not always extravagant, we explored places like New Hampshire, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and everywhere in between (mostly by car). Those road trips sparked my love for travel, and now I cherish passing that passion on to my boys.

Of course, I also believe in the importance of taking solo trips or vacations with your partner or adult friends. These trips are crucial for self-care and set a great example for your kids. When you’re traveling with your children, they naturally come first. But a solo getaway can be rejuvenating, and the hugs and stories you share upon your return make it all worthwhile.

In essence, while you don’t need to take your kids on every single trip, it’s important to show them the world. They will remember these experiences, even if they don’t recall every detail as vividly as you do. They’ll remember the adventures, and most importantly, they’ll remember the time spent with you.
